Axis Underwriting Services – Sydney CBD NSW is seeking an Assistant Underwriter or Commercial Underwriter to join a high-hazard underwriting team in NSW. You will operate with true market autonomy under delegated authority, handling complex submissions and building essential broker relationships.

The role advances your technical scope toward larger risks such as SME, ISR, and Industrial Special Risks, supported by structured mentoring.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years within General Insurance, underwriting agency, insurer, or broking background.
• Foundational exposure to Commercial Property underwriting (SME/ISR) highly regarded.
• Regulatory grounding: GICOP and Privacy Act familiarity; broad Australian market compliance.

Responsibilities

• Quote, bind, and manage commercial new business, renewals, and endorsements within delegated authority guidelines.
• Assess risk exposures and tailor terms and conditions for brokers.
• Manage broker inquiries with a commercial, solution-focused mindset and build lasting market relationships.
• Maintain high data integrity across client records and policy administration.
