Job summary

MAYDAY Recruitment Group partners with a leading Australian insurer to recruit an experienced Property Underwriter for a Sydney-based role focused on Strata Property risks. You will manage new business and renewals, developing tailored insurance solutions with brokers.

You will balance technical risk assessment with commercial decision-making, while building strong broker relationships and contributing to portfolio strategy within an established team in North Sydney.

Qualifications

• Previous experience underwriting Commercial Property risks
• Strong knowledge of Property products, risk assessment, pricing and policy coverage
• Proven ability to manage broker relationships and develop new business
• Strong commercial judgement and negotiation skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management capability
• A proactive approach to portfolio management and business development
• The ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a collaborative team
• ANZIIF or CIP qualifications are highly regarded

Responsibilities

• Underwriting new business and renewals across a diverse Property portfolio
• Assessing risk exposures, pricing, terms, conditions and coverage
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers and key stakeholders
• Identifying and pursuing quality new business opportunities
• Managing portfolio performance and ensuring underwriting decisions align with appetite and guidelines
• Negotiating terms and conditions with brokers and other stakeholders
• Monitoring portfolio trends, profitability and emerging risks
• Collaborating with claims, risk and other internal teams to deliver strong client outcomes
• Contributing to portfolio strategy, process improvements and broader business initiatives
