Job summary

Pelican Waters Hotel in Caloundra is seeking an Assistant Manager to lead a high-volume, multi-department venue and deliver warm, authentic hospitality.

You will supervise a team, support the Publican, and ensure safe, smooth operations with outstanding service standards across dining, sports bar, gaming lounge and events.

Qualifications

• Front-of-house and supervisory experience preferred.
• RSA/RSG, RMLV and Approved Managers Licence required.
• Hands-on hospitality leadership with strong service standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multi-department venue ensuring smooth service across dining, bar, gaming and events.
• Support the Publican to keep the pub running safely with a great vibe.
• Train and motivate a team of hospitality staff; manage shift flow.

The Pelican Waters Hotel is looking for a driven, customer-focused Assistant Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves classic coastal pub culture, and knows how to keep a multi-department venue firing on all cylinders!

"The Pelican" is a buzzing local centerpiece. Whether you're steering a busy dining service out on the water-view deck, orchestrating high-energy trade in the sports bar during live games, or managing shift flow across our gaming lounge and event spaces, this role demands a leader with sharp operational instincts who loves being right in the heart of the action. We need someone who can maintain gold-standard venue presentation, keep service standards tight, and deliver warm, authentic hospitality to our loyal regulars and Sunshine Coast visitors.

A day in the life of an Assistant Manager:

• Get to know the locals so well they think you're part of the crew
• Support the Publican to keep the pub running smoothly, safely, and with a great vibe
• Learn the ropes of being a Publican while leading a team of absolute hospo legends
• Handle hiccups before they turn into headaches
• Bring the energy, the service, and the smiles every single shift

Inherent requirements:

• This is a hands-on role that involves manual handling and lifting as part of regular duties (e.g. moving stock, kegs, and deliveries). Applicants must have the ability to perform physical tasks safely and efficiently.

About you:

• You've been around the bar, bistro, or gaming room block, and maybe already done some supervising
• You've learned from great managers and now you're ready to step up
• You've got the confidence, pride, and people skills to be the face of the pub when the boss is away
• You've got a current RSA/RSG, RMLV and Approved Managers Licence as per state requirements
