Fisheries On The Spit is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Manager to join our hospitality team in Mooloolaba, Queensland. This full-time role supports daily operations, leads staff, ensures service excellence, and upholds safety and hygiene standards with the management team to deliver memorable guest experiences.

The ideal candidate has proven hospitality supervisory experience, strong leadership, excellent customer service, and the ability to manage schedules and costs.

Qualifications

• Proven hospitality management or supervisory experience.

• Sound knowledge of health, safety and food handling regulations.

• RSA certification preferred.

Job description

Fisheries On The Spit is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Assistant Manager to join our team in Mooloolaba, Queensland. This is a full-time position that offers an excellent opportunity to develop your career within the hospitality and tourism management sector. As Assistant Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our establishment, ensuring exceptional service delivery and creating memorable experiences for our guests. You will work closely with the management team to maintain our high standards of hospitality whilst contributing to ongoing success here at Fisheries On The Spit!

Key responsibilities

• Overseeing daily operations and ensuring smooth functioning of the business
• Managing staff scheduling, training and performance to maintain service excellence
• Ensuring compliance with health, safety and food hygiene regulations
• Handling customer service inquiries and resolving complaints professionally and promptly
• Managing inventory control, stock ordering and cost management
• Supporting the Manager in implementing operational policies and procedures
• Maintaining financial records and reporting on performance metrics
• Contributing to marketing initiatives and promotional activities
• Ensuring the venue maintains its presentation standards and cleanliness at all times
• Training and mentoring new staff members

What we're looking for

• Proven experience in a hospitality management or supervisory role, preferably within a restaurant, café or similar venue. If you have the experience in other industries please apply. We want to teach the right person!
• Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff
• Excellent customer service orientation with a proven ability to handle difficult situations diplomatically and lead the business by example
• Sound knowledge of health, safety and food handling regulations (Preferred)
• Proficiency in point-of-sale systems and hospitality management software (Not a necessity but preferred)
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively
• Financial acumen and experience with budgeting and cost control
• Communication skills that enable effective liaison with staff, management and customers
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required (A MUST)
• Certification in Responsible Service of Alcohol (preferred)
