Job summary

EVT Limited's Rydges Sydney Airport hotel seeks an Assistant Finance and Business Support Manager to lead financial support for hotel operations. The role partners with hotel leadership to provide strategic financial advice, budgeting and performance insights.

You will manage budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and month-end reporting, while developing the finance and business support team and driving dashboard adoption across departments.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an assistant financial role, ideally in hotels or hospitality.
• Operational finance and commercial focus with ability to advise GMs and department heads.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and break-even analysis.
• Solid knowledge of general ledger maintenance, reconciliations and month-end reporting.
• Understanding of internal controls, credit policy and AP procedures.
• Awareness of payroll controls, award provisions, visa restrictions and tax legislation.
• Ability to coach and develop a team and build strong cross-departmental relationships.

Responsibilities

• Provide financial advice to hotel leadership, perform break-even analysis and attend Owners meetings.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts and variance analysis; develop improvement action plans.
• Support daily/weekly/monthly reporting including revenue, F&B trackers, payroll and COGS.
• Maintain general ledger, reconciliations and timely period reporting.
• Implement internal controls across cash, debtors, stock, purchasing and AP.
• Coach finance team; promote dashboard usage across departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with key stakeholders across the hotel, providing sound business advice, break-even analysis and commercial support, including attending Owners meetings as required


• Prepare and assist with drive budgets, forecasts and variance analysis, and create action plans to deliver improvements


• Assist with daily, weekly and monthly reporting, including revenue and F&B trackers, revenue forecasts, payroll reporting and food and beverage cost of sales analysis


• Maintain the general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations, and submit monthly, half-yearly and yearly reporting on time


• Implement and maintain internal controls across cash, debtors, stock, purchasing and accounts payable, with a disciplined focus on cost control


• Coach and develop the finance and business support team, and champion dashboard use across all department heads

What You’ll Bring

• Previous experience working in an assistant finically role ideally in hotels or hospitality.


• Operational finance and commercial focus, with the ability to give practical business advice to General Managers, department heads and owners.


• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and break-even analysis


• Solid knowledge of general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations and month-end reporting


• Understanding of internal controls, credit policy and purchasing and accounts payable procedures


• Awareness of payroll controls, award provisions, visa restrictions and tax legislation


• Ability to coach and develop a team and build strong working relationships across the hotel
