Assistant Director of Teaching & Learning -Junior School

Permanent Position

Are you an inspirational educational leader with a passion for curriculum innovation and holistic student achievement? Waverley College is seeking a dynamic and organised Assistant Director of Teaching & Learning to lead the growth, delivery, and assessment of academic programs across our Junior School.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Director of the Junior School and working closely with the Director of Curriculum (Senior), you will oversee the implementation of the NESA curriculum, student reporting, and external testing frameworks. You will lead staff in continuous improvement, data-informed practice, and the design of rich learning environments.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Leadership & Compliance: Ensure full NESA compliance, maintain syllabus documentation, and lead curriculum design for the Junior School. Assist with College registration and accreditation.

Assessment & Data Management: Oversee student assessment and reporting processes. Coordinate external testing (NAPLAN, Allwell, PAT, ICAS) and analyse data to implement targeted student interventions.

Staff Support & Mentoring: Facilitate curriculum-focused professional learning, mentor staff in programming and reporting, and support casual teaching operations.

Community & Enrichment: Collaborate on enrichment programs and competitions (e.g., Gateways), participate in student orientation, attend annual camps, and actively engage in school events and duties.

Key Requirements & Selection Criteria

Qualifications: Relevant Tertiary Degree in Education and current Teacher Registration, Postgraduate qualification are desirable but not essential.

Curriculum Expertise: In-depth, current knowledge of NESA regulations, NSW curriculum trends, and primary pedagogy best practices.

Technical Skills: Advanced Mac proficiency and high computer literacy for tracking student data and managing schedules.

Exceptional attention to detail and high standard of work quality.

Proven leadership capability, inspiring, coaching, and building cohesive teams.
