Job summary

Waverley College in Sydney seeks a Head of PDHPE to lead curriculum across PDHPE and oversee teaching and staff.

Reporting to the Director of Curriculum, you will drive syllabus delivery, assessment alignment with NESA, and mentorship.

This role demands strong subject knowledge, adherence to policies, and commitment to student wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Loyalty to the ethos of the College and the Edmund Rice Charter.
• Possess high level subject knowledge and demonstrable knowledge of the AITSL standards.
• Maintain current Teacher Registration.
• Keep abreast of statutory curriculum requirements expressed by NESA and other professional bodies.
• Hold currency with subject teaching trends and NSW Education Standards Authority expectations.
• Possess high computer literacy in a Mac environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop subject related curriculum and ensure the correct delivery of curriculum.
• Develop, implement and evaluate teaching programs to meet Syllabus outcomes.
• Ensure Assessment programs comply with NESA and College Policy.
• Consult with the Director of Business Services and the Director of Curriculum to formulate and manage the departmental budget.
• Oversee and manage day-to-day activities of departmental staff, including wellbeing and pastoral care.
• Provide mentoring, coaching and professional development to staff.
• Ensure the care and welfare of students is always promoted.
• Support students by liaising with Heads of House, Learning Support and Senior Studies & Careers Coordinator.

The Role

Reporting to the Director of Curriculum, The Head ofPDHPEis responsible forcoordinating and implementing allfacetsof Curriculum acrossPDHPE. The Head ofPDHPEoversees the teaching and learning practices of the department and of all departmental staff acting as a representative point of communication with the College Leadership Team.

Requirements:

• Be accredited at NESA’s Proficient Teacher Level 5
• Possesshigh level subject knowledge &in-depth and demonstrable knowledge of the AITSL standards

• Keep abreast of statutory requirements in curriculum expressed by NESA and other professional bodies
• Hold currency with specific subject teaching trends, best practice and the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) regulations and expectations
• Possess high computer literacy in a Mac environment
