Job summary

The Y Australia in Brisbane is seeking an Assistant Coordinator for the YMCA Virginia Outside School Hours Care on a permanent part-time basis. You’ll support the Coordinator with daily operations, lead programming, and guide a dedicated team to deliver safe, engaging care for children.

This not-for-profit role offers community-focused work with flexible hours during term and vacation care, training and career development, and a pathway to supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Children’s Services or teaching qualification, or currently studying.
• Experience in children’s programming and administration.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Blue Card, First Aid & CPR (or willingness to obtain).
• Familiarity with National Quality Framework.

• Assist with child-led, play-based programming.
• Provide guidance to educators and support staffing needs.

About the role

We are seeking a capable and motivated Assistant Coordinator to join our team at YMCA Virginia Outside School Hours Care on a permanent part time basis. You’ll play a key role in supporting the Coordinator with day-to-day operations, lead programming, and help guide a passionate team in delivering safe, fun, and enriching care for children.

What you’ll bring

• A Diploma in Children’s Services or related ECEC or Teaching qualification (or studying towards)
• Demonstrated experience in children’s programming and administration
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• A valid Paid Blue Card (or willingness to obtain)
• Current First Aid & CPR certificate (or willingness to obtain)
• A commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all children
• Familiarity with the National Quality Framework
