Job summary

YMCA Brisbane is seeking an Assistant Coordinator for its Outside School Hours Care service in Helensvale on a permanent part-time basis.

You will support the Coordinator with daily operations, help lead play-based programming, and guide a team to deliver safe, fun care for children.

Qualifications

• Diploma or higher in Children’s Services or related field.
• Experience planning and leading child-centered programs.
• Excellent communication with families, schools and colleagues.
• Blue Card (paid) or willingness to obtain before starting.
• Current First Aid & CPR certificate or willingness to obtain soon.

Responsibilities

• Support the daily running of the service
• Assist with child-led, play-based programming
• Provide guidance to educators and support staffing needs
• Maintain compliance and support administration processes
• Engage positively with children, families, schools and the local community

Education

Diploma in Children’s Services or related ECEC/Teaching qualification

Experience in children’s programming

Strong communication and customer service skills

Blue Card (Paid)

First Aid & CPR certificate

Willingness to obtain Blue Card/First Aid

About the role

We are seeking a capable and motivated Assistant Coordinator to join our team at YMCA Helensvale Outside School Hours Care on a permanent part time basis. You’ll play a key role in supporting the Coordinator with day‑to‑day operations, lead programming, and help guide a passionate team in delivering safe, fun, and enriching care for children.

What you’ll bring

• A Diploma in Children’s Services or related ECEC or Teaching qualification (or studying towards)
• Demonstrated experience in children’s programming and administration
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• A valid Paid Blue Card (or willingness to obtain)
• Current First Aid & CPR certificate (or willingness to obtain)
• A commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all children
• Familiarity with the National Quality Framework
