Job summary

Makinex is seeking a motivated finance professional to join the shared services team at our Artarmon head office. The role focuses on Accounts Payable and cash management across multiple group companies, offering exposure to end-to-end accounting and ERP processes.

You'll support the CFO and work with colleagues across departments, demonstrating strong Excel skills, problem solving, and the ability to handle change with composure.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting and Finance from a recognised institution.
• Familiar with accounting principles and AP processes.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage priorities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage Accounts Payable including an outsourced staff member.
• Process supplier invoices with proper approvals and costing.
• Schedule weekly payment runs with CFO approval.
• Manage bank transactions and inter-entity transfers.
• Liaise with banks on payment queries.
• Conduct general ledger reconciliations and month-end journals.
• Oversee fixed assets and depreciation.
• Perform variance analysis on select P&L items.
• Support CFO and finance team in other areas.
• Participate in SAP ByDesign process improvement initiatives.

Job description

Makinex is an Australian owned private company that are experts in the design, development and distribution of innovative products since 2004, providing solutions to the construction, landscaping, equipment hire, infrastructure and related industries.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic person to join the shared services finance team at our head office in Artarmon, reporting to the CFO. Whilst primarily focused on Accounts Payable and cash management the role will be wide and varied across the five key companies in our group and will suit someone looking to entrench their finance experience and gradually learn new skills across other areas of accounting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Management of the Accounts Payable process including 1 outsourced staff member
• Validating and processing of supplier invoices ensuring compliance with approval processes and correct costing allocations
• Scheduling weekly payment runs with approval from CFO
• Managing business bank account transactions, including outgoing payments, applying incoming payments, and management of funds transfers between group entities
• Liaising with banks regarding customer or supplier payment queries
• General ledger reconciliations for selected companies and accounts
• Assistance with month end closing including review of reports and processing of monthly journals
• Management of fixed assets and depreciation
• Variance analysis for select company P&Ls
• Supporting the CFO and finance team in other finance areas as required
• Participation in general business activities to support other areas of the business
• Taking part in SAP Business ByDesign (ERP) process improvement initiatives

ABOUT YOU

Ideally you will be a person who has;

A degree from a recognised university / college / institute relating to Accounting and Finance.

Knowledge of accounting principles and Accounts Payable processes

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Ability to work well with team members from other departments

Ability to support and follow agreed approval procedures

A minimum one year of post graduate experience

Excellent interpersonal skills

Problem solving and analytical skills
