Job summary

Kyearn Architecture invites an experienced Architectural Draftsperson to join our North Sydney studio. You will prepare and develop architectural drawings, assist with construction documentation and incorporate project information into clear drawing sets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Architecture or related built environment discipline with practical drafting experience.
• Minimum of five years of professional experience in architectural drafting.
• Experience preparing drawings and construction documentation.
• Knowledge of building materials, construction methods and detailing, and building codes.

Responsibilities

• Interpret design concepts and develop preliminary drawings showing layouts and features.
• Prepare and update drawing sets including floor plans, elevations and sections.
• Develop detailed drawings for roofs, walls, façades, doors and windows with construction information.
• Create 3D models and visual materials to communicate design.
• Review drawings for accuracy, consistency and clarity based on feedback from architects.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers and consultants for project information and revisions.
• Assist with site measurements and record information for drawings.
• Organise and maintain project drawings and revision records.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Architectural Draftsperson to join our North Sydney studio. Working closely with our architects and design team, you will prepare and develop architectural drawings, assist with construction documentation and incorporate project information into clear and accurate drawing sets.

This role suits someone with sound technical drawing skills, an understanding of building construction and a practical approach to working within a collaborative design team.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with architects to interpret design concepts, sketches and project requirements, and develop preliminary drawings showing building layouts, spatial arrangements and key architectural features.
• Prepare and update architectural drawing sets, including floor plans, elevations, sections and construction details, to support design development and construction documentation.
• Develop detailed drawings for building elements such as roofs, walls, façades, doors and windows, incorporating dimensions, materials and construction information in consultation with architects and relevant consultants.
• Prepare three-dimensional models and supporting visual material to communicate building forms, internal spaces and design details, keeping them consistent with the architectural drawings.
• Review drawings for accuracy and consistency in dimensions, scales, annotations and references, and incorporate feedback from architects to improve the clarity and completeness of documentation.
• Liaise with architects, engineers and other consultants to obtain relevant project information, coordinate drawing updates and identify discrepancies requiring clarification by the design team.
• Assist with site measurements and checks of existing building conditions, record information relevant to the drawings, and help prepare additional details or revisions in response to site queries.
• Organise and maintain project drawings, technical documents and revision records, ensuring that changes are clearly recorded and current drawing sets are available for project review and issue.

Qualifications and Skills

• A bachelor’s degree or higher in Architecture, Architectural Design, Urban Planning or a related built environment discipline, together with relevant practical experience in architectural drafting and documentation.
• A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in architectural drafting.
• Demonstrated experience preparing architectural drawings and construction documentation.
• Sound knowledge of building materials, construction methods and architectural detailing, together with an understanding of relevant building codes and technical standards.
• Strong skills in digital drafting, three-dimensional modelling and visual presentation.
• Good attention to detail and the ability to interpret design instructions and incorporate feedback accurately.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively while managing assigned tasks and deadlines.
• A portfolio demonstrating relevant drafting work and identifying your contribution to the projects presented.
