Job summary

HumanKapital is recruiting a Draftsperson/Designer for a residential builder based on-site in Newcastle, NSW. You will develop projects from briefs and initial sketches through to detailed drawings, using ArchiCAD, and ensure compliance with DCPs and the NSW Complying Development Code.

The role requires 3–5 years' experience, a relevant Architecture/Building Design degree, and strong attention to detail to meet deadlines in a small team.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in ArchiCAD is essential.
• 3–5 years' experience as a Draftsperson or in a design role.
• Relevant degree in Architecture, Building Design, or related discipline.
• Ability to interpret and apply Development Control Plans and NSW Complying Development Code.
• Strong attention to detail and high accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Interpreting customer briefs and sales sketches accurately to ensure customer satisfaction.

About the Company

Our client is a successful, highly respected residential home builder, based in Newcastle, NSW,specialising in small to medium projects across the Hunter and Central Coast regions.

They are looking for a Draftsperson with 3-5 years' experience, or a Designer with solid practical experience, to join their team and take the next step in their career.

About the Role

This role is based on-site in Newcastle, NSW. Working as part of a small team, you will be responsible for developing residential projects from customer briefs and initial sales sketches through to detailed working drawings.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Interpreting customer briefs and sales sketches accurately to ensure customer satisfaction
• Producing full sets of working drawings at various stages of the process using ArchiCAD
• Ensuring drawings comply with relevant Council Development Control Plans (DCPs) and the NSW Complying Development Code (CDC)
• Following established company processes and systems
• Working efficiently within a small team to maintain quality standards, achieve targets, and meet project timelines

About You

• Proficiency in ArchiCAD is essential
• Relevant degree in Architecture, Building Design, or a related discipline
• 3-5 years' experience working as a Draftsperson, or reasonable experience in a Design role
• The ability to interpret and apply Development Control Plans and the NSW Complying Development Code
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• The ability to interpret drawings conceptually and translate briefs into practical designs
• Strong problem-solving skills
• A willingness to contribute to a small team and support others
• The ability to work to deadlines while maintaining a high standard of work
