Job summary

Tassal Operations is seeking an Apprentice Fitter at the Proserpine Prawn Farm to start in November 2026. You’ll learn from experienced tradespeople while maintaining and repairing farm machinery, vehicles and equipment, gaining skills you can take anywhere.

You’ll work a Monday to Friday roster, earning while you learn, and complete a nationally recognised trade qualification. Second and third-year apprentices are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship pathway leading to trade qualification.
• Hands-on training with heavy machinery and farm equipment.
• Safe work practices and practical maintenance knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Learn to service, maintain and repair machinery and equipment.
• Assist with fault finding and mechanical repairs.
• Work with experienced Fitters and learn from their knowledge.
• Support maintenance activities to keep operations running.
• Learn to use tools, equipment and maintenance systems safely.
• Complete on-the-job training and studies as required.
• Contribute to a positive team and safety culture.
• Build practical skills for a long-term career.
