Job summary

Tassal invites applications for an Apprentice Fitter at the Proserpine Prawn Farm, starting in November 2026. You will learn hands-on with experienced tradespeople while maintaining and repairing heavy machinery and farm equipment.

Throughout the apprenticeship you’ll complete a nationally recognised trade qualification, gain practical experience, and contribute to a safety-focused team on a leading aquaculture operation in Australia.

Qualifications

• Finished secondary schooling.
• Current driver’s licence with reliable transport.
• Full working rights in Australia.
• Willingness to learn and stay safety conscious.

Finished school and not sure what's next? Or looking for a hands-on career where you can earn while you learn? You could be the newest Apprentice Fitter at Tassal's Proserpine Prawn Farm, starting in November 2026.

Over the course of your apprenticeship, you'll learn from experienced tradespeople while working on a wide range of machinery and equipment that keep our farm operating every day.

You’ll gain hands‑on experience maintaining and repairing everything from Caterpillar dozers, loaders and excavators through to pumps, generators, vehicles and other critical farm equipment. It’s the kind of experience that will set you up with skills you can take anywhere.

No two days look the same. One day you could be helping complete a service on a piece of heavy machinery, the next you might be assisting with a breakdown, fault finding or learning how preventative maintenance keeps equipment running reliably.

You’ll work a Monday to Friday roster, giving you your weekends free while you earn an income, complete a nationally recognised trade qualification and build a career for the future.

Second and third-year apprentices are encouraged to apply.
