Job summary

The Salvation Army Australia is hiring an AOD Support Worker (Lifeskills) in a casual role based at the Eastern Bridge Program, The Basin, VIC. You will provide practical and emotional support to participants in a Residential Rehabilitation Program, helping them engage and work towards recovery while fostering independence and essential life skills.

You will report to the Support Work Coordinator and participate in a 24/7 roster, including early mornings, afternoons, sleepovers and night shifts.

Qualifications

• Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Addiction Counselling or related discipline desired.
• Certificate IV in AOD interventions or equivalent preferred.
• Certificate IV in Community Services or Diploma considered advantageous.
• Experience in AOD or community services is valued.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred support to individuals in a Residential Rehabilitation Program.
• Assess wellbeing, risk and crisis situations using trauma-informed practices.
• Conduct scheduled/random breathalyser and urine screenings; assist with medications and transport.
• Facilitate life skills and group activities; record attendance and feedback.
• Support service improvement through team meetings, supervision and quality initiatives.
• Organise and supervise recreational activities to promote engagement and wellbeing.
