Job summary

Gateway Health in Wangaratta is seeking a Residential Support Worker for our Therapeutic Community. You will liaise with residents, support day-to-day operations, and work with clinical staff to promote healthier living free from alcohol and drug use.

The role requires weekend and overnight availability, and a Certificate IV in AOD or equivalent, or willingness to undertake within 12 months. A passionate, resilient candidate with lived experience is encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in AOD or equivalent, or willingness to undertake within the first 12 months.
• Ability to resolve conflict and work with clients who have challenging behaviours.
• Extensive experience in substance misuse, mental health, health, or community services.
• People with lived experience are encouraged to apply.
• The ability to work weekends and overnight shifts is a must.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate day-to-day operations of the Wangaratta Therapeutic Community and act as the first point of contact for residents.
• Assist residents in treatment to establish healthier lifestyles free of problematic alcohol and drug use.
• Model behaviours within the Therapeutic Community to maximise peer influence and support recovery.
