Job summary

Troocoo is partnering with a Queensland Government client to recruit an AO6 Senior Communications Advisor for The Wave and Sunshine Coast infrastructure projects. The role leads communications across project packages, working with project teams and contractors to ensure proactive, community-focused engagement.

You will provide strategic communications advice throughout the lifecycle, with emphasis on construction delivery, stakeholder management and issue resolution.

Qualifications

• Experience in communications and stakeholder engagement within major infrastructure, construction, transport or contractor-delivered projects.
• Experience working with contractors, alliances, joint ventures or integrated project teams.
• Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear messaging.
• Experience managing issues, risks and sensitive stakeholder matters.

• Develop and deliver communications and stakeholder engagement strategies for major infrastructure project packages.
• Act as a key communications interface between project teams and contractor delivery teams.
• Build strong relationships with contractors, government agencies, councils, businesses, community groups and other stakeholders.
• Provide strategic advice on communications, engagement, reputation management and emerging issues.
• Coordinate construction communications, including project notifications, community engagement, stakeholder briefings and issue responses.
• Monitor community sentiment and stakeholder feedback and provide advice to support project decision-making.
• Represent the project at meetings with contractors, stakeholders and community representatives.

Troocoo is partnering with a Queensland Government client to recruit an AO6 Senior Communications Advisor to work on The Wave project and other major infrastructure projects across the Sunshine Coast.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of major project delivery, partnering with project teams, contractors and stakeholders to support the successful delivery of transformational infrastructure across the region.
The contract is initially from 1 October 2026 - 30 September 2031, with a further 12-month extension available.

As Senior Communications Advisor, you will lead communications and stakeholder engagement activities across designated project packages, working closely with delivery teams and contractors to ensure a coordinated, proactive and community-focused approach.
You will provide strategic communications advice throughout the project lifecycle, with a strong focus on construction delivery, stakeholder management, community engagement and issue resolution.

Key responsibilities include:

• Develop and deliver communications and stakeholder engagement strategies for major infrastructure project packages.

You'll be an experienced communications professional who is confident operating in complex project environments and building strong relationships across multiple organisations.

Ideally, you will have:

• Experience in communications and stakeholder engagement within major infrastructure, construction, transport or contractor-delivered projects.
• Experience working with contractors, alliances, joint ventures or integrated project teams.
• Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear and accessible messaging.
• Experience managing issues, risks and sensitive stakeholder matters.
• The ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and provide sound strategic advice.
• Experience supporting projects through active construction or delivery phases will be highly regarded.

IAP2 certification, relevant tertiary qualifications and transport infrastructure experience will also be viewed favourably.

This is more than a traditional communications role. You'll be embedded within major project delivery teams and involved in the real-world communications and stakeholder challenges that come with delivering significant infrastructure. You could be developing stakeholder strategies for major construction activities, managing community concerns, supporting key project milestones or working alongside contractors to coordinate communications across multiple project interfaces.
