Job description

Job Description Summary

The ANZ Sales Leader for Grid Automation is the primary commercial architect for our regional business. You will be held directly accountable for delivering an annual Order Intake (OI) target of at least USD $40 million, while serving as the lead strategist for GE Vernova’s automation footprint across Australia and New Zealand. You will define the long-term country growth plan, aligning our digital and automation portfolio with regional grid modernization mandates and the energy transition, while leading a high-performing team to execute this strategy. This role demands a balance of executive-level strategic planning and "hands-on" engagement in complex, high-stakes deal negotiations.

Job Description

Key Focus Areas

1. Country-Level Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Growth Roadmap:Develop and own a comprehensive country strategy. Identify high-growth segments—including large-scale renewables, transmission stability projects, and industrial decarbonization—and proactively allocate resources to maximize order intake and capture market share.

  • Market Positioning:Champion GE Vernova’s reputation as the premier partner for grid stability and digital transformation. Create proactive campaigns that highlight our unique value proposition in a crowded, tender-heavy market.

  • Market Dynamics & Competitive Analysis:Maintain an active pulse on regional energy trends, utility capital expenditure (CAPEX) cycles, and competitor behavior. Use this intelligence to launch effective "Win-Back" initiatives and secure net-new business.

  • Financial Accountability:Take full ownership of the $40M+ OI budget. Lead rigorous pipeline reviews, provide highly accurate monthly/quarterly forecasting to global leadership, and manage commercial risk effectively.

2. Delivering Order Intake (OI) Targets

  • Strategic Pursuit:Personally spearhead the most critical "must-win" negotiations. Provide the high-level commercial leadership required to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes and successfully cross the finish line on high-value, long-cycle projects.

  • Pipeline Management:Oversee the end-to-end sales funnel. Implement best-in-class pipeline management tools and value-based selling methodologies to ensure a robust, high-quality opportunity set that consistently supports the $40M+ target.

  • Solution Selling:Bridge the gap between customer pain points (e.g., grid congestion, DER integration) and our technical solutions, positioning our portfolio as the primary remedy for complex utility challenges.

3. Leadership and Ecosystem Management

  • High-Performance Culture:Coach and mentor a geographically dispersed team. Foster a culture of accountability, commercial excellence, and entrepreneurial initiative.

  • Strategic Partner & EPC Engagement:Develop and scale a robust channel strategy. Build deep-rooted relationships with Tier-1 EPC firms and System Integrators to ensure GE Vernova is "specified-in" during the early FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) and design phases of infrastructure projects.

  • Matrix Collaboration:Lead cross-functionally within the global matrix. Align local customer needs with global product engineering, supply chain, and project delivery teams to ensure that our commitments are executable, profitable, and delivered to specification.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Education:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related technical discipline; MBA is highly preferred.

  • Experience:15+ years of progressive experience in technical sales or business development, with at least 5+ years of seniorsales leader experience within the ANZ energy market.

  • Strategic Acumen:Proven ability to develop and execute complex business plans that drive consistent, year-over‑year market expansion.

  • Technical Literacy:Expert understanding of Grid Automation portfolios, including Protection & Control (PAC), Substation Automation, Monitoring and Diagnostic, communication products, and digital grid solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Established C-suite and executive network within major ANZ utilities, renewable developers, and Tier-1 EPC firms.

  • Proven record of leading successful "Country Strategy" transformations within large, complex, matrixed multinational organizations.

Essential Experience & Characteristics

  • Proven Performance:Demonstrable history of managing and exceeding annual sales/order intake targets of $40M+ within the electrical or industrial automation sectors.

  • Strategic Agility:Demonstrated capacity to transition seamlessly between "big-picture" country strategy and the "day-to-day" requirements of hands-on deal closure.

  • Executive Presence:Exceptional communication and storytelling skills; capable of influencing external C-suite stakeholders and internal global leadership to secure required resources.

  • Resilience:Strong capacity to navigate ambiguity, lead through organizational change, and manage high-stakes, long-cycle energy infrastructure projects with persistence.
