Job summary

Mondiale VGL Pty is a global logistics leader with deep roots in Oceania and operations spanning 19 markets worldwide. We are seeking an experienced Airfreight Leader in Sydney to own carrier relationships, negotiate rates, and lead a high-performing team in a fast-paced environment.

You will manage air imports/exports, documentation, and compliance while collaborating with Sales to influence pricing and win rates.

Qualifications

• 5+ years airfreight experience with current relationships across airlines/co-loaders
• Track record of negotiating rates and capacity that move the needle
• Confidence leading and developing a team
• Strong knowledge of IATA regs, air waybill documentation, and DG requirements

Responsibilities

• Own the carrier relationships with airlines and co-loaders; negotiate rates and secure space while addressing issues before they arise
• Run operational airfreight activities: imports, exports, documentation, compliance, and exceptions
• Lead and develop Air Operators and Coordinators to achieve high performance
• Shape the commercial outcome by collaborating with Sales and Key Account Management to influence pricing and win rates
• Ensure compliance with IATA regulations, Dangerous Goods handling, and Border Force requirements

Job Description

What you'll be doing

• Owning the carrier relationships. You'll be the person airlines and co-loaders want to do business with — negotiating rates, securing space, and sorting out problems before they become headaches.
• Running the show operationally. Air imports, air exports, documentation, compliance, exceptions — you'll keep it all moving smoothly and on time.
• Leading a team that trusts you. You'll coach, develop, and back your Air Operators and Coordinators so they can do their best work.
• Shaping the commercial outcome. Working closely with Sales and Key Account Management, your market knowledge will directly influence pricing and win rate.
• Keeping us compliant and credible. IATA regulations, Dangerous Goods, Border Force requirements — you'll make sure we’re always ahead of the curve.

Qualifications

• 5+ years proven airfreight experience with genuine, current relationships across airlines and/or co-loaders
• A track record of negotiating rates and capacity that actually move the needle
• Confidence leading and developing a team
• Strong knowledge of IATA regs, air waybill documentation, and DG requirements
• CargoWise experience (or a similar freight system) — you'll pick up our workflows fast
• The judgement to operate commercially, not just operationally
