Job summary

Cuscal Limited in Australia is seeking an experienced AI Architect to lead enterprise AI initiatives on a 12-month maximum term contract. You will translate business needs into scalable designs, guide architecture decisions and drive secure, governable solutions.

You’ll work across technology, data and business teams, build AI apps using LLMs and RAG, assess models for performance and cost, and ensure Responsible AI principles are embedded throughout.

• Strong software engineering and integration design skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, deploy and support AI and Generative AI solutions
• Act as the AI architect and Tech Lead for key initiatives
• Build applications using LLMs, ML models and AI services
• Design agentic AI solutions capable of reasoning and tool use
• Develop Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions
• Work with prompt engineering, tool calls and model orchestration
• Integrate AI apps with APIs, databases and enterprise systems
• Evaluate AI models for performance, security and cost
• Embed security, data governance and Responsible AI principles

What you’ll be doing

This is an initial 12 month maximum term contract Working across technology, data and business teams, you’ll help turn AI opportunities into scalable solutions while providing architecture leadership across key initiatives. You’ll:

• Design, build, test, deploy and support AI and Generative AI solutions
• Act as the AI architect and Tech Lead for key initiatives, translating business requirements into solution designs, architecture patterns and technical decisions
• Build applications using LLMs, machine learning models and AI services
• Design agentic AI solutions capable of reasoning, using tools and completing defined business workflows
• Develop Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions using enterprise data and knowledge sources
• Work with prompt engineering, structured outputs, tool and function calling and model orchestration
• Integrate AI applications with APIs, databases, enterprise data platforms, document repositories and business systems
• Evaluate AI models and technologies across performance, security, cost and business requirements
• Embed security, privacy, data governance and Responsible AI principles into solution design
• Develop reusable AI architecture patterns, solution views, integration designs and architecture decision records

About you

You’re someone who understands that successful enterprise AI is about more than building a great proof of concept. You know how to turn emerging technology into solutions that are secure, maintainable, governed and able to scale. You’ll bring:

• Strong practical knowledge of AI and modern AI technologies (ideally Azure Foundry)
• Solid experience contributing to solution architecture, architecture reviews, integration design and architecture documentation within an enterprise technology environment
• Strong software engineering and solution design capability
• An understanding of modern AI approaches including LLMs, Generative AI, RAG and agentic AI
• Strong stakeholder engagement and business analysis skills
