Job summary

Cuscal is seeking an AI Architect / Lead for an initial 12-month max term contract in Sydney. You will drive AI architecture across technology, data and business teams, turning opportunities into scalable, secure solutions.

The role involves designing, building and deploying AI, using LLMs and RAG, with strong governance and integration across enterprise systems. You will lead software engineering efforts, collaborate with stakeholders, and embed Responsible AI principles while delivering

Chances are, we’ve made it happen.At Cuscal, we’ve been at the forefront of payments innovation for 60 years, enabling seamless, secure solutions that millions of Australians rely on every day.From launching Australia’s first ATM to being the first certified Australian fast payments payer (NPP) and Initiator in 2022, we’ve always pushed boundaries - and we’re not stopping now. **What you’ll be doing****This is an initial 12 month maximum term contract**Working across technology, data and business teams, you’ll help turn AI opportunities into scalable solutions while providing architecture leadership across key initiatives.You’ll:* Design, build, test, deploy and support AI and Generative AI solutions* Act as the AI architect and Tech Lead for key initiatives, translating business requirements into solution designs, architecture patterns and technical decisions* Build applications using LLMs, machine learning models and AI services* Design agentic AI solutions capable of reasoning, using tools and completing defined business workflows* Develop Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions using enterprise data and knowledge sources* Work with prompt engineering, structured outputs, tool and function calling and model orchestration* Integrate AI applications with APIs, databases, enterprise data platforms, document repositories and business systems* Evaluate AI models and technologies across performance, security, cost and business requirements* Embed security, privacy, data governance and Responsible AI principles into solution design* Develop reusable AI architecture patterns, solution views, integration designs and architecture decision records ## About youYou’re someone who understands that successful enterprise AI is about more than building a great proof of concept.
