Job summary

Northholm Grammar School Ltd in Arcadia, NSW, seeks an engaging Agriculture Teacher to join our Secondary teaching team. The successful candidate will deliver practical, inquiry-based and academically rigorous agricultural education, linking classroom learning to real-world farming and sustainable practices.

Experience in Technology Mandatory and/or Food Technology is advantageous. Applicants should hold current NESA teacher accreditation and a Working with Children Check.

We are seeking an engaging and experienced Agriculture Teacher to join our Secondary teaching team. The successful candidate will inspire students through practical, inquiry-based and academically rigorous agricultural education, connecting classroom learning with real-world agricultural systems and sustainable practices.

The ability to teach Technology Mandatory and/or Food Technology would be an advantage

Key Responsibilities include:

Planning and delivering engaging Agriculture lessons across relevant secondary year groups, with a strong emphasis on practical learning and real-world applications.

Teaching Technology Mandatory and/or Food Technology in accordance with relevant NESA syllabus and assessment requirements.

Developing and implementing high-quality teaching programs, assessment tasks and learning resources that build students’ knowledge, inquiry and practical skills.

Providing safe, well-organised practical learning experiences, including appropriate supervision, risk management and safe use of tools, equipment and materials.

Using explicit teaching, differentiation and timely feedback to support students with a range of learning needs and extend their achievement.

Contributing collaboratively to curriculum planning, assessment moderation, resource management and continuous improvement within the Department.

Fulfilling a pastoral role within the School’s house-based Tutor system and fostering positive relationships with students and families.

Contributing to the School’s co-curricular program, excursions and wider School community.

Applicants should possess the following:

A strong background in teaching Agriculture, including the capacity to deliver engaging, academically rigorous and practical learning experiences.

Demonstrated ability to teach Technology Mandatory and/or Food Technology; the ability to teach both would be highly regarded.

Sound knowledge of relevant NESA syllabuses, assessment and reporting requirements, including HSC Agriculture requirements where applicable.

Demonstrated commitment to safe practical teaching, including risk assessment, equipment use and appropriate food safety practices where relevant.

Skill in explicit teaching, differentiation, assessment design and using student learning data to inform classroom practice.

A collaborative approach and excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues and families.

Current NESA teacher accreditation and a valid Working with Children Check, or eligibility to obtain and maintain these requirements.
