Job summary

Sunripe in Queensland seeks an Agricultural Mechanic to service, maintain and repair the Sunripe fleet of tractors, sprayers, seeders and other field equipment. You will lead fault diagnosis and fix complex faults, both in the workshop and on the fields, to minimise downtime during planting, spraying and harvest.

Responsibilities include diagnostics, watching for recurring faults, attending field breakdowns, setting up implements, repairing hydraulics, and keeping accurate service histories.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Agricultural or Diesel mechanics or equivalent.
• Experience servicing and repairing tractors and farm machinery.
• Broad experience diagnosing faults across various machinery types.
• Open Queensland driver licence.

• Attend field breakdowns and prioritise critical seasonal machinery.
• Assist with setting up, calibrating and adjusting implements (sprayers, seeders).

• Source parts, oils and lubricants and liaise with contractors as required.
• Ensure OHS and Food Safety Standards are followed.

Summary

The Agricultural Mechanic is responsible for the servicing, maintenance and repair of every tractor in the Sunripe fleet, along with the implements and attachments including sprayers, cultivators, seeders, slashers, spreaders, irrigation pumps and other in-field farm machinery. The role also oversees all Sunripe machinery as the lead troubleshooter, finding and fixing the faults that others cannot. It keeps the farms running efficiently and minimises downtime, particularly during planting, spraying and harvest.

Key Responsibilities:

Diagnose faults methodically using diagnostic tools and manufacturer procedures, in the workshop or in the field, and find the root cause rather than just the symptom.

Investigate recurring or complex faults & recommend fixes that prevent them happening again.

Attend field breakdowns promptly, prioritising machinery that is critical to the season's operations.

Assist with setting up, calibrate and adjust implements (e.g. sprayers and seeders) for correct operation.

Repair hydraulic hoses and carry out fabrication and welding repairs as needed.

Maintain a service schedule for your fleet so machinery and vehicles are always efficient, safe and productive.

Record repairs carried out, parts used and service history (basic computer skills: Word, email, recording repairs).

Source relevant parts, oils and lubricants.

Implement trailers towed by tractors

Liaise with preferred specialists and contractors when work is outsourced, give them the access and information they need, and record third-party work in the service history.

Ensure OHS is always a priority, and Food Safety Standards are followed.

Trade qualification as an Agricultural or Diesel Mechanic (e.g. Certificate III in Agricultural Mechanical Technology), or relevant qualification.

Experience servicing and repairing tractors and farm machinery.

Broad experience diagnosing faults across a range of machinery types, not just tractors.

Open Queensland driver licence.
