Sunripe is a family-run Australian agribusiness and the nation’s largest producer of field-grown snacking tomatoes. The Light Vehicle Mechanic will service and repair the Sunripe farm vehicle fleet, from utes to light trucks and small engines, ensuring safety, reliability and compliance across our operations.

You will diagnose faults, perform scheduled services, organise tyre work, and maintain detailed service records while liaising with specialists.

Qualifications

• Trade qualifications in light vehicle mechanics or equivalent.
• Experience with farm vehicles and small engines preferred.
• MR and forklift licences are advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults using diagnostic scan tools and procedures.
• Prepare vehicles for registration/roadworthy inspections.
• Carry out logbook and scheduled services.
• Organise tyre fitting and repairs as needed.
• Diagnose engine, fuel, ignition and electrical faults in small engines.
• Perform safety checks on quad bikes and buggies; ensure safe operation.
• Assist Agricultural/Heavy Vehicle Mechanics when required.
• Maintain fleet service schedules and record repairs.
• Source parts, oils and lubricants; liaise with contractors when outsourced.
• Keep workshop tidy and uphold OHS and Food Safety standards.

About the Role

The Light Vehicle Mechanic is responsible for the servicing, maintenance and repair of the Sunripe farm vehicle fleet, from utes and 4WDs through to light and medium rigid trucks and forklifts (diesel, LPG and electric), as well as quad bikes, buggies and small-engine equipment including generators, mowers, brushcutters, blowers, chainsaws and engine-driven portable pumps

Key Requirements of this role

Diagnose faults using diagnostic scan tools and manufacturer procedures.

Prepare vehicles for registration/ roadworthy inspections

Carry out logbook and scheduled services in line with company requirements.

Organise tyre fitting and repairs when required

Diagnose engine, fuel, ignition and electrical faults in two-stroke and four-stroke small engines.

Carry out safety checks on quad bikes and buggies (e.g. rollover protection, brakes, steering), and ensure repaired equipment is safe to operate before it returns to the farm.

Assist the Agricultural Mechanic and the Heavy Vehicle Mechanic when required, including with tractor, implement, in-field machinery and heavy vehicle work, and with difficult fault finding.

Maintain a service schedule for your fleet so machinery and vehicles are always efficient, safe and productive.

Record repairs carried out, parts used and service history (basic computer skills: Word, email, recording repairs).

Source relevant parts, oils and lubricants.

Liaise with preferred specialists and contractors when work is outsourced, give them the access and information they need, and record third‑party work in the service history.

Keep the workshop and workspace clean and tidy.

Ensure OHS is always a priority, and Food Safety Standards are followed.

Trade qualification as a Light Vehicle Mechanic (e.g. Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology, or Certificate III in Outdoor Power Equipment Technology for small engine work), or relevant qualification.

Experience repairing and maintaining quad bikes, buggies and small engines, or relevant experience.

Medium Rigid (MR) truck licence and forklift licence (Neither essential)
