Job summary

Sunripe Employment Pty Ltd in Queensland invites applications for a Production Horticulturist. You will supervise workers and oversee planting, growing and harvesting activities across our family‑run farming operations.

The role demands hands‑on leadership, adherence to WHS, and the ability to coordinate land preparation, irrigation, pest control and equipment maintenance to deliver high quality crops for supermarket suppliers nationwide. Meadowvale location preferred.

Qualifications

• Three years employment experience as a Production Horticulturalist with relevant formal training (Australian Certificate III or Certificate IV) or 5 years employment experience with no formal qualification.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow directions.
• Queensland Open Driver Licence is required.
• Basic understanding of WHS and ability to apply knowledge.
• Contribute to developing safe work procedures and report hazards.

Responsibilities

• Ensure land preparations are performed per Sunripe procedures.
• Train and monitor operators to follow standard procedures.
• Lead by example with leadership and guidance to workers.
• Supervise and prepare daily production routines and operations.
• Assess quality of work and take corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure materials inputs are adequate for operations.
• Undertake minor maintenance of farming equipment and machinery.
• Assist with general farm work when required.
• Coordinate with Farm Operation Manager and Directors.
• Oversee and operate irrigation systems.

About the Role Summary: As a Production Horticulturist, you will report to the directors and be responsible for supervising workers and planting, growing, and harvesting activities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that all land preparations are done as per Sunripe procedures.
• Train and monitor operators where required to ensure tasks are done as per standard procedures.
• Lead by example, providing leadership and guidance to workers.
• Supervise and prepare work routines and day-to-day production operations.
• Assess quality of work and take corrective actions where applicable.
• Ensure that all material inputs are adequate for respective operations.
• Undertaking minor maintenance of farming equipment and machinery.
• Assist with general farm work when required.
• Liaise with Farm Operation Manager and Directors where required.
• Oversee and operate the irrigation system.
• Prepare and apply chemicals to control pests, weeds, and diseases.
• Operate spreading and seeding equipment.
• Identify and report unusual disease or plant pest signs.
• Coordinate horticultural crop harvesting.
• Operate spreading and seeding equipment.

Requirements

• To be considered for this role, you will have.
• Three years employment experience as a Production Horticulturalists with relevant formal training (a qualification equivalent to an Australian Certificate III or Certificate IV) or 5 years employment experience with no formal qualification.
• Attention to detail.
• Proactive and self-motivated Queensland Open Driver Licence.
• Ability to demonstrate proper use of equipment.
• Ability to follow directions and work unsupervised.
• Basic understanding and knowledge of WHS and ability to apply knowledge.
• Contribute to developing safe work procedures
• Identify and report any hazards or incidents.
