Job summary

Mater Private Hospital Bundaberg is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to move into an After-Hours Manager role. This permanent part-time position covers evening shifts and may require across-all-shifts availability.

You will provide clinical and operational leadership after hours, supporting multidisciplinary teams, managing patient flow and responding to issues to ensure safe, high-quality care. Based at Bundaberg’s hospital, you will coordinate staffing, bed management and mentor nursing

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registration for the required scope of practice.
• Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in a critical care environment.
• ALS and PLS certifications or willingness to obtain.
• Postgraduate qualifications in Critical Care- ICU/CCU/ED.
• Experience in leadership or supervisory roles in healthcare.
• Strong analytical and report-writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide after-hours clinical and operational leadership across the hospital.
• Coordinate patient flow, bed management and staffing resources.
• Mentor nursing staff and foster a positive team culture.
• Ensure compliance with standards, policies and ethics.
• Respond to clinical and operational issues and mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with NMOs, VMOs and Allied Health teams.
• Advocate for patients and families with clear communication.
• Manage staffing to meet service demands across the hospital.
• Contribute to quality improvement and accreditation activities.
• Maintain accurate confidential clinical documentation.
