Job summary

Mater Central Queensland - Rockhampton is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to step into an After-Hours Manager role. This permanent part-time position covers evening shifts with flexibility across all shifts.

You will lead clinical teams after hours, coordinate patient flow and staffing, and drive safe, high-quality care across the hospital. Key requirements include AHPRA registration, 5+ years in critical care, ALS/PLS, and postgraduate critical care qualifications.

Qualifications

• Current registration with AHPRA relevant to the scope of practice.
• Five years of clinical experience in a critical care environment.
• ALS and PLS certification or willingness to obtain.
• Postgraduate qualifications in nursing Critical Care (ICU/CCU/ED).
• Leadership/supervisory experience in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide after-hours clinical and operational leadership across the hospital.
• Coordinate patient flow, bed management and staffing resources.
• Mentor nursing staff and promote professional development.
• Ensure compliance with standards, legislation, policies and ethics.
• Respond to clinical and operational issues and mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with Nurse Unit Managers and Allied Health teams to ensure safe patient care.
• Advocate for patients and families with clear communication.
• Manage workforce allocation to meet service demands.
• Contribute to quality improvement, accreditation and research activities.
• Maintain accurate confidential clinical documentation.
