Achieve Australia in North Ryde is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to lead after-hours operations as an On-Call Manager. This onsite role provides clinical and operational leadership outside standard hours to ensure safe, consistent, person-centred care.
You will oversee night-time service delivery, guide staff, manage incidents, and coordinate workforce across multi-site disability services with a focus on NDIS compliance and risk management. Permanent Part-time shifts for Fri/Sat/Sun.
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent including RN registration.
- Experience in disability, community or complex support environments.
- Experience coordinating staffing resources in complex services.
- Strong decision-making and risk management capabilities.
- Understanding of complex disability and behaviour support.
Responsibilities
- Oversee after hours operations between 10:00pm and 6:00am with on-call support.
- Provide clinical guidance and senior decision-making after hours.
- Coordinate staff resources and manage unplanned leave.
- Report incidents and ensure timely documentation and escalation.
- Handover overnight issues to Service Managers to maintain continuity.
- Act as first escalation point for frontline staff after hours.
- Support workforce matters and adherence to policy during night shifts.
- Ensure alignment with clinical standards and regulatory expectations.

This onsite role provides clinical and operational leadership across Achieve services outside the standard business hours through a centralised on-call function and after-hours management.
The role is responsible for real-time decision-making, clinical guidance, workforce coordination and risk management after hours to ensure safe, consistent and person-centred service delivery across the organisation.
Candidates should be able to start as per below shift requirements:
Permanent
Part-time position for Friday, Saturday and Sunday shifts with Friday 10pm and Saturday and Sunday 11pm start.
- Oversee after hour operations that operates between 10.00pm and 6.00am, service delivery and the implementation of individual clients’ NDIS plan.
- Proactively identify and manage after hours risk, including outbound engagement with services to provide supervision, confirm adherence to care plans, and support staff before issues elevate.
- Act as the senior decision-maker for clinical, safety, and service delivery matters.
- Provide remote supervision and guidance to both nursing and non-nursing staff, ensuring alignment with clinical standards, organisational frameworks and regulatory expectations.
- Coordinate and report critical incidents occurring outside of business hours, ensuring timely documentation, notification and escalation.
- Ensure clear, timely, and structured handover of overnight issues, risks, and actions to relevant Service Managers and operations leaders to support continuity of care and service delivery.
- Act as the first point of escalation for frontline staff during after-hours periods.
- Attend to workforce matters occurring overnight, escalating issues in line with Achieve Australia policy and delegation frameworks.
- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent including holding a current Registered Nurse (RN) registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Extensive experience working in disability, community or complex support environments with a strong understanding of NDIS, active support and human rights-based practice.
- Experience managing diverse disability support or equivalent services including multi-site accommodation service, day programs, and community participation.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating staffing resources, including managing unplanned leave or workforce shortages in complex services.
- Demonstrated capability in leading operational responses in high-risk or time-critical situations, including incident management, escalation, conflict resolution and negotiation.
- You have a deep understanding of complex disability, behaviour support and management.
- Advanced decision-making skills with a proven ability to work autonomously, make sound decisions, and manage competing priorities in a high-risk, after-hours environment.
- You are highly organised with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively.
