Job summary

Zurich Australia seeks an Actuarial Manager, Research and Analytics to transform data into actionable insights across actuarial, pricing, finance, and business teams. You will turn complex information into recommendations that improve outcomes, strengthen performance, and support long‑term growth through data, insight, and innovation.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related discipline.
  • Fellowship of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia or equivalent.
  • Experience in actuarial or statistical modelling within insurance, reinsurance, or consulting environments.
  • Strong machine learning and statistical modelling capabilities including GLM, GAM, or GBM.
  • Proficiency in SQL and modern data platforms; programming in Python or R.
  • Ability translating complex analysis into actionable business insights and stakeholder recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver insights and recommendations through actuarial analysis and data exploration.
  • Investigate trends in claims, customer behaviour, and risk to support business decisions.
  • Support assumption setting, experience investigations, pricing reviews, and industry submissions.
  • Drive innovation through advanced analytics, ML, AI, and automation initiatives.
  • Partner with finance, pricing, and business stakeholders to influence strategy.
  • Present analytical findings and recommendations to local, regional, and global stakeholders.

As our Actuarial Manager, Research and Analytics, you’ll play a key role in helping Zurich make smarter decisions through data, insight, and innovation. To be successful, you will have the following:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related discipline
  • Fellowship of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia or an equivalent professional actuarial qualification
  • Experience in actuarial or statistical modelling within insurance, reinsurance, or consulting environments
  • Strong capability in machine learning and statistical modelling techniques including GLM, GAM, or GBM
  • Proficiency in SQL and modern data platforms, with programming skills in Python or R
  • Experience translating complex analysis into actionable business insights and stakeholder recommendations
