Job summary

Nathan Contractors in Canberra seeks an experienced Accounts & Payroll Officer to support our finance operations across accounts payable, payroll, month-end and administration for large-scale civil projects. You will thrive in a fast-paced, project-based environment and work with multiple entities and reporting structures.

Ideally you bring proven AP and payroll experience, exceptional attention to detail, and proficiency with Microsoft Office; Employment Hero experience is highly regarded.

Qualifications

• Experience with accounts payable and payroll processes.
• Construction industry experience is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel and Outlook.
• Experience with Employment Hero payroll is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices and subcontractor claims.
• Manage weekly and Fortnightly payroll.
• Assist with payroll tax and compliance administration.
• Assist with daily and monthly accounting tasks, bank reconciliations & journals.
• Prepare payment runs and supplier reconciliations.
• Assist with implementation of Employment Hero payroll.
• Support finance process improvements and documentation.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Accounts & Payroll Officer to support the finance operations and be part of our exciting growth trajectory.

This is a role for someone with strong accounts payable and payroll experience who thrives in a fast-paced, project-based environment.

About the Role

You will support the finance function across accounts payable, payroll, month-end and finance administration.

The business manages large-scale construction projects and requires someone who is organised, detail-focused and comfortable working with multiple entities and project reporting structures.

Key Responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices and subcontractor claims
• Manage weekly and fortnightly payroll
• Assist with payroll tax and compliance administration
• Assist with daily and monthly accounting tasks, bank reconciliations & journals
• Prepare payment runs and supplier reconciliations
• Assist with implementation of Employment Hero payroll
• Support finance process improvements and documentation

About You

You will ideally have:

• Previous accounts payable and payroll experience
• Construction industry experience advantageous
• Strong attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook
• Experience with Employment Hero will be highly regarded
• Strong work ethic and good time management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
