Job summary

Nocean Recruitment in Sydney partners with a premier construction firm to recruit an Accounts Officer for the growing finance function. You will work closely with the Finance Manager across day‑to‑day accounting tasks, ensuring smooth operations and timely financial processing.

Ideal candidates are organised, detail–oriented and proactive, with strong experience in accounts payable/receivable and familiarity with construction accounting software such as Jobpac or Cheops.

Qualifications

• Experience as Accounts Officer or similar finance role.
• Construction/engineering or property experience highly regarded.
• Strong accounts payable experience and solid general accounting knowledge.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Confidence communicating with suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Experience with Jobpac or Cheops or other construction accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Processing and reconciling invoices, payments and receipts
• Assisting with weekly and monthly reporting and reconciliations
• Following up outstanding invoices and assisting with debtor management
• Assisting with payroll and general finance administration
• Maintaining accurate financial records and databases
• Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders
• Processing expenses, purchase orders and payment runs
• Supporting the Finance Manager with general accounting tasks and ad-hoc requirements
• Ensuring financial information is accurate, up to date and processed within deadlines

About the Role

This is a hands-on opportunity for an Accounts Officer who enjoys being involved across the accounts function rather than being restricted to one area. You’ll work closely with the Finance Manager and wider team, helping keep the financial operations running smoothly, accurately and efficiently.

About You

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous experience as an Accounts Officer or in a similar finance role
• Construction, engineering or property experience highly regarded
• Strong accounts payable experience and solid general accounting knowledge
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Confidence communicating with suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders
• The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
• A proactive and reliable approachStrong systems skills
• Experience with Jobpac or Cheops or other construction accounting software is highly regarded
