Job summary

Active Recruitment in Blaxland is seeking an experienced Accounts Officer for a four-day-per-week, ongoing temporary role with a view to permanency. The position covers day-to-day accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and general finance administration.

You’ll work closely with management to ensure timely supplier payments, accurate financial records and compliant BAS/GST processes, with opportunities to improve controls and processes.

Qualifications

• At least two years' experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliations.
• Working knowledge of MYOB and/or Xero.
• A sound understanding of GST and Australian BAS requirements.
• Intermediate Excel skills including lookups, pivot tables and filters.
• Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and build positive relationships.
• Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Managing accounts payable, including processing invoices, matching purchase orders, reconciling supplier statements and preparing payment runs.
• Overseeing accounts receivable, including customer invoicing, allocating receipts, monitoring outstanding debts and following up overdue accounts.
• Completing regular bank and credit card reconciliations and investigating discrepancies.
• Maintaining accurate supplier and customer records, including new account setups and credit applications.
• Assisting with month-end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations and BAS/IAS preparation.
• Maintaining financial records in line with Australian compliance requirements.
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes, accuracy and internal controls.
• Responding to supplier and customer enquiries in a professional and timely manner.
