Job summary

Acknowledge Education on Oxford Street in Darlinghurst, Sydney, seeks an Academic Support Officer to deliver hands-on academic help to students across the trimester. You will run workshops, provide one-to-one support and work with Course Coordinators to tailor guidance, helping students improve writing, referencing and assessment interpretation.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Education or related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience delivering academic skills workshops or tutorials in higher education or VET.
• Understanding of academic writing, referencing, assessment literacy and academic integrity.
• Experience supporting diverse student cohorts, including international students and students at risk.
• At least three years' experience in academic support or a related area.
• Familiarity with Australian higher education and VET sectors and regulatory requirements.
• Strong facilitation, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to identify individual student needs and provide practical, targeted support.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage recurring workshops and priorities.
• Collaborative, inclusive and student-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging Academic Support Workshops throughout the trimester covering referencing, paraphrasing, academic writing and Q&A.
• Help students interpret assessment briefs and marking criteria to strengthen research, writing and referencing.
• Support students to understand academic integrity requirements and the use of Generative AI.
• Provide targeted one-to-one academic support to referred students.
• Facilitate open Q&A sessions for guidance on academic challenges.
• Identify and support students at academic risk, developing study plans and monitoring progress.
• Collaborate with Course Coordinators to tailor support and address common skill gaps.
• Connect students with other internal support services when needed.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting and continuous improvement.
• Support the Academic Integrity Team when required.
