Job summary

Oonah Health & Community Services Aboriginal Corporation in Melbourne's Montrose area is seeking an Aboriginal Drug and Alcohol Outreach Worker to provide support and advocacy for Aboriginal people and their families in relation to substance use and access to treatment.

The role is based at Montrose but requires travel across the Eastern Metro region. Applicants should understand intergenerational loss and trauma and be committed to culturally respectful service delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience working with AOD and/or dual diagnosis clients.
• Willingness to participate in relevant training.
• An understanding of the intergenerational loss, grief and trauma that is experienced by Aboriginal community members and the subsequent self-medication (AOD) issues that result.
• Experience in dealing with complex clients with multiple and complex needs including provisions of working with their families; and
• Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of and adherence to relevant legislation, policies and issues impacting on service delivery for clients and their families
