Job summary

The University of Vienna seeks a motivated postdoctoral researcher (maternity leave substitute) in the Physics of Nanostructured Materials group. You will engage in research on 2D materials, correlative microscopy, and high-energy-resolution electron spectroscopy, while supporting doctoral students and contributing to teaching.

You will work in an international team, have opportunities for publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and participate in the broader academic community in Vienna.

Qualifications

• PhD in physics or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with atomic-resolution (scanning) transmission electron microscopy, atomic-force microscopy, and related methods.
• Experience in Python programming is required; teaching experience in Python is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Participate in research on atomic-scale structural manipulation of low-dimensional materials using electron and ion irradiation.
• Support doctoral students and group members in experiments, data analysis and publication preparation.
• Contribute to teaching, including co-teaching a Python course, within the collective bargaining provisions.
• Assist in organizing meetings, conferences and symposiums.
• Handle administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.
