Job summary

TU Wien invites applications for University Assistant Post-Doc in the Mid-IR Gas Sensing project (CoE MicroPlanet) at the Institute of Chemical Technologies and Analytics. The position is 40 hours per week, limited, starting November 2026 with the possibility of extension until 30.09.2028.

We seek candidates with a doctorate in chemistry, physics or related field, strong optics knowledge, and hands-on tunable diode laser spectroscopy experience.

Qualifications

• Completion of a doctorate in chemistry, physics or related field.
• Strong theory and practical knowledge of optics/photonics.
• Hands-on experience with tunable diode laser spectroscopy.
• Programming for measurement automation and data analysis (MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW).
• Ability to conduct research independently and publish.
• Experience in teaching and mentoring students.

Responsibilities

• Interdisciplinary research in laser-based gas sensing.
• Optical setup development and operation.
• Design and implementation of software tools for instrument control, automation, and data analysis.
• Independent publishing activity.
• Participation in international conferences and collaborations.
• Teaching or supervising students as part of the role.
• Contribute to organizational and administrative tasks within the research division.
