Job summary

RECENDT in Linz, Austria, seeks a Master student (m/f/d) to develop quantum photonic sensing and imaging systems in the mid-infrared range for chemical sensing and material characterization. You will design, model, and build photonic systems, contribute to software for control and analysis, and publish findings as part of an interdisciplinary team.

The position offers a research-focused environment with collaborations across IR spectroscopy and OCT groups, on-site at the JKU campus, for 30 hours

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in physics, photonics, or closely related fields.
• Experience or strong interest in experimental laboratory work.
• Programming skills (Python, MATLAB, C++).
• Good written and spoken English (important for publishing).

Responsibilities

• Development and simulation of optical setups and photonic components.
• Design and construction of nonlinear interferometer systems for photonic quantum sensing.
• Development of control, automation, and signal-processing software.
• Independent execution of experiments, measurements, and data analysis.
