Jobbeschreibung

Focus areas: HSE Strategy · HSE Standards & Policies · Renewable Energy Infrastructure & Construction Safety · Audits & Compliance
Location: Vienna, fully on-site
What makes this opportunity special?

Our client is building a major portfolio of energy infrastructure projects in Austria, with a strong focus on the infrastructure required to support a more flexible and resilient power system. The company operates with a lean, entrepreneurial team where people have significant ownership and direct access to decision-makers. As the business scales its construction and operational activities, HSE is becoming an increasingly important part of the company's organizational foundation.

This is a unique opportunity to join at a stage where you can build the corporate HSE framework rather than simply inherit an existing one. Your work will directly influence how safety is managed across the company's future projects, sites, contractors, and operations.

  • Develop and establish HSE standards, policies, principles, and procedures
  • Develop and maintain the company's corporate HSE policy and ensure its effective implementation across all sites
  • Ensure HSE standards remain aligned with Austrian legislation, regulatory requirements, and modern industry best practices
  • Act as a professional advisor to the company's HSE/safety committees and relevant site-level committees
  • Champion a proactive safety culture across construction, operational, and corporate locations
  • Promote strong HSE awareness among employees, contractors, maintenance partners, and other external stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain an effective HSE audit and assurance process, identifying good practices and opportunities for improvement
  • Monitor and report on HSE performance, initiatives, incidents, and improvement measures to the management team
  • Manage company's interfaces with external HSE bodies, regulatory authorities, and other relevant stakeholders
  • 5+ years of experience in a senior HSE professional role, ideally including experience in power, energy, industrial, process, or major infrastructure environments
  • Recognized senior HSE qualification/accreditation, with additional formal HSE certifications being an advantage
  • Previous experience working at an operational or construction site, with a strong understanding of practical site HSE
  • Strong knowledge of Austrian HSE legislation, regulations, and safety management practices
  • Understanding of HSE requirements related to energy infrastructure construction is highly advantageous
  • Experience developing or implementing HSE policies, standards, procedures, audits, and management systems
  • Strong experience in incident investigation, root‑cause analysis, risk management, and corrective action
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with contractors, site teams, consultants, authorities, and regulatory bodies
  • Fluent German and English skills
  • Able to work independently, assess priorities, and make sound decisions in complex or time‑critical situations
What we are looking for?

We are looking for someone who combines strong technical HSE expertise with excellent people skills.

You know how to set high standards without creating unnecessary bureaucracy. You can challenge unsafe practices when required, but you also know how to build trust with site teams, contractors, and operational stakeholders.

You are comfortable operating at both levels - discussing HSE strategy with the CEO and then stepping onto a construction site to understand what is actually happening on the ground.

Compensation

Compensation depends on your seniority and skills, and STARTS from 70.000 EUR on an annual/gross basis
