Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien invites applications for a part-time PhD candidate position in the Interdisciplinary Institute for Management and Organisational Behaviour. The role combines research support, teaching activities, and dissertation writing within a vibrant, inclusive campus in Vienna.

You hold a Master’s or Diploma in Business Administration, Management, or related areas with OB/Work & Organisational Psychology focus, and you are eligible for doctoral studies at WU.

Qualifikationen

• Academic degree in Business Administration, Management, or related field with focus on Organisational Behaviour or Work & Organisational Psychology and eligibility for doctoral studies at WU.
• Passion for socially relevant research and publishing in prestigious journals.
• Solid knowledge in organisational behaviour and research methods (quantitative/qualitative) with software proficiency.
• Excellent German and English skills, both written and spoken.
• Willingness to teach courses in German using multimedia formats; proactive and able to work independently within a team.

Aufgaben

• Support research projects and academic publications with impact.
• Conduct and write a dissertation, spending at least one third of time on writing.
• Collaborate in teaching activities and course administration for Organisational Behaviour.
• Advise students, provide feedback on seminar papers, and co‑supervise bachelor theses.
• Assist in organisation of teaching, research, and university life.

We are looking for support at the Interdisciplinary Institute for Management and Organisational Behaviour. Part‑time, 30 hours/week. Starting December 01, 2026, and ending after 6 years The Interdisciplinary Institute for Management and Organisational Behaviour, as part of the Department of Management, is dedicated to studying human behaviour in organisations. You are interested in understanding how individuals can craft their jobs and make things happen in organisations, and/or how people can thrive and experience well‑being at work, and pass on your findings to students in the classroom? You are also interested in understanding and helping organisations how to manage people in the context of emerging societal and technical developments, such as AI, changing workplace practices and preferences (e.g., WFH), political/economic uncertainty, and sustainability? This position opens doors to either an academic career or a later switch to a career in business.

What to expect

• Research with Impact: The Institute for Management and Organisational Behaviour focuses on timely issues related to positive behaviours in organisations. This means we examine how and when individuals will engage in positive behaviours and contribute to their organisation, as well as experience well‑being and meaning in their work, particularly in the context of social and technological developments. You will make a valuable contribution to this research by supporting projects and academic publications.
• Writing a dissertation: You will conduct research within OB on a topic that is close to your heart, while spending a minimum of one third of your working time to writing your dissertation.
• Working in a team: At the Institute for Management and Organisational Behaviour, collaboration and mutual support are priorities. Together, we make a significant contribution to the advancement of our field.
• Building a lasting network: You will attend and co‑organise international conferences and engage in dialogue with research partners and peers.
• Teaching students: You will plan and conduct courses in Organisational behaviour, for example in the existing SBWL programme of the institute (on the BSc level). You will also contribute to the administration of exams and evaluations.
• Advising students: You will be available to answer students’ questions, provide feedback on seminar papers, and serve as a co‑advisor for bachelor’s theses.
• Performing organisational tasks: You will assist in the organisation of teaching, research and university life.

What you have to offer

• Academic degree: You hold a diploma/master’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related subject area, with a focus on Organisational Behaviour, or in Work & Organisational Psychology, that qualifies you for enrollment in a doctoral program at WU.
• Passion for research: You are motivated to delve into socially relevant research questions and publish your work in prestigious journals.
• Content expertise: You have solid knowledge in the area of organisational behaviour.
• Methodological skills: You have a solid knowledge of quantitative and/or qualitative research methods and the relevant software (such as Mplus, R, SPSS, or Stata, NVivo, or Atlas) for conducting empirical analyses.
• Language skills: You have excellent German and English skills and can express yourself very well in both languages, orally and in writing.
• Willingness to use multimedia teaching methods: You are capable of and willing to teach courses in German using multimedia formats.
• Personal qualities: You are curious, interested, and proactive. You can work independently but are also willing to contribute cooperatively as part of a team.

The minimum monthly gross salary amounts to €2,832.08 (14 times per year). This salary may be adjusted based on job‑related prior work experience. In addition, we offer a wide range of attractive social benefits.
