Zusammenfassung

Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien invites applications for a part-time PhD-track position in Health Economics and Policy. You will join the Health Economics and Policy Group, contribute to research design and publications, and spend substantial time on writing your dissertation.

You will also assist teaching in the Bachelor’s Specialization Health and Social Policy and supervise a few theses per year, while benefiting from a flexible schedule and a modern campus in Vienna.

Qualifikationen

  • Academic degree: Master’s in economics, health economics, or related social science eligible for doctoral enrollment at WU.
  • Strong background in quantitative methods; proficiency in at least one leading statistical software such as Stata or R.
  • Prior experience conducting quantitative research.
  • Qualitative methods experience is not required but would be an asset.
  • Excellent command of English; German would be an asset.

Aufgaben

  • Contribute to the Health Economics and Policy Group through regular meetings and internal workshops; engage in academic life.
  • Collaborate on research projects, contributing to research design, data collection and analysis, and publications.
  • Dissertation writing: dedicate about one third of time to writing your dissertation.
  • Assist teaching in Bachelor's Specialization 'Health and Social Policy' with 2–3 contact hours per week.
  • Support supervision of Bachelor's and Master's theses, approx. 2–4 per year.

What to expect
  • Institute Life: You will actively contribute to the Health Economics and Policy Group, a vibrant research group within the Institute for Social Policy, by participating in regular meetings, presenting your work at internal workshops, and engaging in the academic life of the institute
  • Research: You will collaborate with members of the Health Economics and Policy Group on research projects, contributing to research design, data collection and analysis, and scientific publications.
  • Writing a dissertation: You will be investigating your research topic and spending a third of your working hours on writing your dissertation.
  • Teaching: You will support teaching in the Bachelor’s Specialization "Health and Social Policy" through co-teaching activities equivalent to approximately 2-3 contact hours per week.
  • Supervision: You will contribute to the supervision of Bachelor’s and Master’s theses in collaboration with senior faculty members, supporting approximately 2-4 theses per year.
What you have to offer
  • Academic degree: You have a diploma/master’s degree in economics, health economics, or in a relevant social science that qualifies you for enrollment in a doctoral program at WU.
  • Quantitative skills: You have a strong background in quantitative methods and are proficient in at least one leading statistical software package, such as Stata or R.
  • Research experience: You have prior experience conducting quantitative research.
  • Qualitative methods: Experience with qualitative research methods is not required but would be considered an asset.
  • Languages: You have an excellent command of English, both written and spoken. German language skills are not required but would be considered an asset.
  • Willingness to use multimedia teaching methods: You are prepared to use multimedia teaching and learning formats.

The minimum monthly gross salary amounts to €2,832.08 (14 times per year). This salary may be adjusted based on job-related prior work experience. In addition, we offer a wide range of attractive social benefits.
