Job summary

Proofpoint is seeking a Software Engineer III to join our Unified Detection team in Córdoba, Argentina, building large-scale threat detection services. You will work on cutting-edge technology to detect and analyze threats, contributing to core components used across Proofpoint's cybersecurity products.

You will own smaller features, write clean, tested code, and grow within a fast-paced engineering culture. A strong background in distributed systems and cloud workloads is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems (or equivalent practical experience).
• 4+ years of experience developing software, with growing proficiency in Python or Golang.
• Experience working with distributed systems, cloud environments (AWS, Azure or similar), and containerized workloads (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Experience with observability or monitoring tools (Grafana, Kibana, or similar), preferred.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, secure coding foundations, and automated testing practices.
• Curiosity about cybersecurity, malware analysis, or threat detection is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to moderately complex features and components, ensuring your work integrates seamlessly into the larger detection system.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code – leave the codebase better than you found it.
• Begin taking ownership of smaller features or components, ensuring quality through thorough testing.
• Work with minimal supervision on routine tasks, and proactively seek guidance when facing unfamiliar challenges.
• Anticipate potential blockers, communicate risks early, and collaborate with the team to address them within established timelines.
• Collaborate well with teammates – listen actively, incorporate feedback, and contribute constructively to reviews and discussions.
• Actively participate in code reviews and retrospectives, providing constructive input and implementing feedback with a growth mindset.
