Job summary

RateHawk is seeking a Level 2 Tax & Accounting Support Specialist to deliver expert remote support for US accounting, tax, bookkeeping, and payroll inquiries. The role demands strong technical accounting judgment, excellent English communication, and the ability to investigate and resolve complex issues with minimal guidance.

This remote opportunity supports a US-based client with hours aligned to US Eastern Time; scheduling will be staggered to cover US business hours.

Qualifications

• Professional accounting experience, with exposure to US accounting and taxation.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping, tax return review, reconciliations, payroll, and financial reporting.
• Experience handling complex tax and accounting inquiries and customer-facing financial support.
• Excellent written and verbal English.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation and independent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to explain complex accounting/tax topics to nontechnical customers.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced tech environment with evolving workflows.
• Ability to learn proprietary platforms and AI-assisted workflows.

Responsibilities

• Provide Level 2 support for complex US accounting, tax, bookkeeping and payroll inquiries.
• Investigate and resolve escalated accounting and tax tickets.
• Review and troubleshoot bookkeeping discrepancies and transactions.
• Assist customers with tax notices, filing status questions, and tax return questions within scope.
• Support payroll questions, setup, processing issues and troubleshooting.
• Communicate findings clearly via Zendesk, email tickets, and scheduled calls.
• Independently investigate issues, identify root causes, and coordinate with specialists.
• Document resolutions and maintain accurate customer records.
• Identify recurring issues and improve workflows and knowledge resources.
• Learn and adapt to proprietary platforms and AI-assisted workflows.
