Job summary

SQUIRE is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer for the Payments Team in Buenos Aires. You will build and maintain payment systems and fintech infrastructure, focusing on secure transaction flows and ledger consistency.

This role reports to the Engineering Manager and involves cross-team collaboration with product engineering. Responsibilities include designing payment processing, code reviews, and contributing to hiring panels while working on-site two days per week in CABA.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of Node.js application development.
• Experience with payments processing in production.
• Knowledge of authorization, capture, refunds, chargebacks.
• Experience with reconciliation and financial ledgers.
• Idempotent operations in distributed systems.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Based in Buenos Aires; English proficiency required.
• On-site in our CABA office two days a week (Tue/Thu).

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain high-quality payment features and financial infrastructure using Node.js.
• Design, implement, and maintain payment processing flows, reconciliation, financial ledger systems including double-entry bookkeeping, and idempotent payment operations.
• Collaborate with product and other engineers to integrate payment systems with the platform.
• Participate in code reviews to improve code quality.
• Participate in interview panels for platform development hiring.
• Contribute to Platform Community and help shape hiring and tech policies.
• Work closely with Engineering Manager to follow direction and guidelines.
• Troubleshoot and resolve defects in payment-critical systems.
