Job summary

Assurant is seeking a Senior Payroll & Tax Analyst to ensure accurate US, Canada, and Puerto Rico payroll processing and tax compliance within a large, multi-state environment. You will analyze payroll data, resolve complex payroll and tax issues, and support audits and process improvements.

You will collaborate with HR, Finance, Legal, payroll vendors, and government agencies to deliver a seamless employee experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience supporting US payroll operations within a large, complex multi-state organization.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in payroll tax compliance (federal, state and local).
• Advanced English proficiency (written and verbal).
• Experience performing payroll reconciliations, audits, compliance testing, and resolving payroll tax notices.
• Strong Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, reporting).
• Experience with payroll platforms such as Workday, ADP, UKG, SAP, Oracle, or similar systems.
• Knowledge of payroll accounting principles, wage/hour laws, SOX compliance and internal controls.
• Experience supporting payroll system implementations, testing and change management initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for multi-state and multi-entity operations with regulatory compliance.
• Research, analyze, and resolve complex payroll and payroll tax issues; support employees, managers, and retirees.
• Perform payroll audits, reconciliations, variance analyses, and compliance reviews to ensure data integrity.
• Support payroll tax activities including filings, reconciliations, notices, and year-end reporting.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, vendors, auditors, and government agencies on payroll and tax matters.
• Participate in payroll system implementations, upgrades, testing, and automation initiatives.
• Develop and maintain payroll reporting, analytics, policies, procedures, and controls.
