Descripción de la vacante

Svitla Systems Inc. is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer in Argentina to own the observability platform end-to-end and improve system reliability. The role focuses on building a robust metrics, tracing, and logging stack across Kubernetes on AWS, with AMG/AMP and OpenTelemetry driving instrumentation standards across services.

Responsibilities include designing dashboards, unified alerting, and SLO/SLI models while collaborating with engineering teams to reduce MTTR and improve signal quality.

Formación

  • Strong production-level experience with Prometheus and PromQL.
  • Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry, building and operating collector pipelines, and configuring OTLP.
  • In-depth understanding of the Kubernetes observability stack, kube-state-metrics, Node-exporter, cAdvisor/kubelet metrics, and deploying kube-prometheus-stack via Helm.
  • Knowledge of Grafana beyond usage, with dashboards-as-code, unified alerting and Alertmanager, and recording rules.
  • Working knowledge of AWS observability tooling (CloudWatch, Container Insights, ADOT).
  • Understanding of distributed tracing with backends like X-Ray, Tempo, or Jaeger.

Responsabilidades

  • Design and maintain the metrics pipeline: Prometheus and AMP, kube-prometheus-stack (Helm), ServiceMonitor/PodMonitor CRDs, and Kubernetes metric sources.
  • Own the OpenTelemetry collector architecture—define receiver/processor/exporter pipelines, manage ADOT deployments via the EKS add-on, and drive SDK-level instrumentation standards.
  • Manage the logging layer: CloudWatch Logs for AWS-native surfaces, Loki + LogQL for Kubernetes workloads; define usage and consistency.
  • Implement and maintain distributed tracing: context propagation standards, X-Ray and/or Tempo/Jaeger as backends, trace ingestion via OpenTelemetry.
  • Build and govern the Grafana environment in AMG: dashboard-as-code, template variables, unified alerting, Alertmanager routing, and recording rules.
  • Define and operationalize SLO/SLI frameworks and error budgets; collaborate with teams to set targets and surface burn rates.

Descripción del empleo

Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Argentina. Our client is a global technology company specializing in self-service payment solutions and digital customer engagement for the retail petroleum industry.

Role purpose: Own the observability platform end-to-end: from signal collection and instrumentation strategy to dashboard standards and alerting reliability. This role makes the health of distributed systems legible to engineering teams and reduces MTTR through better signal quality. The role exists at the intersection of platform engineering and developer enablement.

The stack is Kubernetes-native on AWS, with heavy reliance on Amazon Managed Grafana (AMG) and Amazon Managed Service for Prometheus (AMP).

Requirements:
  • Strong production-level experience with Prometheus and PromQL; PromQL is used across dashboards and alerts, and is not trainable on the project.
  • Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry, building and operating collector pipelines (receivers, processors, exporters), and configuring OTLP; ideally including SDK-level instrumentation in at least one language.
  • In-depth understanding of the Kubernetes observability stack, kube-state-metrics, Node-exporter, cAdvisor/kubelet metrics, and deploying kube-prometheus-stack via Helm.
  • Knowledge of Grafana — beyond usage, with expertise in building dashboards-as-code, configuring unified alerting and Alertmanager, and defining recording rules.
  • Working knowledge of AWS observability tooling, such as CloudWatch Logs, Container Insights, and ADOT (specifically EKS add-on deployment).
  • Understanding of distributed tracing in context propagation and has shipping tracing in a production system; backend experience with X-Ray, Tempo, or Jaeger.
Nice to have:
  • Experience with Amazon Managed Grafana (AMG) and Amazon Managed Service for Prometheus (AMP), specifically — the managed-service operational model differs from a self-hosted one.
  • Experience with SLO/SLI/error budget modeling in practice — not just familiarity with the concept.
  • Familiarity with Terraform for Grafana resource provisioning.
  • Familiarity with Grafana Operator (Kubernetes-native Grafana management).
  • Experience with Loki + LogQL operational beyond log querying.
Responsibilities:
  • Design and maintain the metrics pipeline: Prometheus and AMP, kube-prometheus-stack (Helm), ServiceMonitor/PodMonitor CRDs, and the full suite of Kubernetes metric sources (kube-state-metrics, node-exporter, cAdvisor/kubelet).
  • Own the OpenTelemetry collector architecture — define receiver/processor/exporter pipelines, manage ADOT deployments via the EKS add-on, and drive SDK-level instrumentation standards across services.
  • Manage the logging layer: CloudWatch Logs for AWS-native surfaces, Loki + LogQL for Kubernetes workloads; define when each is appropriate and enforce consistency.
  • Implement and maintain distributed tracing: context propagation standards, X-Ray and/or Tempo/Jaeger as backends, trace ingestion via OpenTelemetry.
  • Build and govern the Grafana environment in AMG: dashboard-as-code practices (JSON model, Grafana Operator or Terraform provisioning), template variables, unified alerting, Alertmanager routing, and recording rules.
  • Define and operationalize SLO/SLI frameworks and error budget models; partner with engineering teams to set meaningful targets and surface burn rates.
  • Make the call on CloudWatch and Container Insights vs. AMP for a given use case — and document the decision rationale.
We offer
  • US and EU projects based on advanced technologies.
  • Competitive compensation based on skills and experience.
  • Regular performance appraisals to support your growth.
  • Flexibility in workspace, either remote, our welcoming office or local coworking.
  • Bonuses for recommendations of new employees.
  • Bonuses for article writing, public talks, other activities.
  • 15 vacation days, 10 national holidays, 10 sick leaves.
  • Personalized learning program tailored to your interests and skill development.
  • Free tech webinars and meetups organized by Svitla.
