Job summary

AgileEngine is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to operate and improve a Snowflake-based data platform in a healthcare-regulated environment. You will lead data engineering, implement dbt models, manage ingestion (Fivetran/HVR) and AWS data services, and ensure data quality and observability across RAW, CURATED, and CONSUMPTION layers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering or Data Platform Engineering.
• Snowflake expertise: data-layer design, performance, access patterns, and troubleshooting.
• Advanced SQL and dbt for transformation, testing, documentation, lineage, and controlled deployment.
• Experience with managed ingestion tools (Fivetran or HVR) and custom data-ingestion pipelines.
• Hands-on with AWS data services, especially S3 and event-driven ingestion.
• Experience with Argo Workflows on Kubernetes or similar workflow orchestrators.
• Proficient in Python for data engineering and automation.
• Strong data modeling, schema evolution, backfills, data quality, and production validation.
• Observability, logging, alerting, and incident-management for production data platforms.
• Ability to lead incident resolution, root-cause analysis, and preventive actions.
• Strong written and verbal English communication, with client stakeholder engagement.
• Willingness to work Pacific Time hours and participate in on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical ownership for the Data Platform during the LatAm coverage window.
• Operate and improve Snowflake production and non-production environments, including config and sizing.
• Administer data access with least-privilege controls and audit-ready practices.
• Operate and improve data ingestion across Fivetran, HVR, and custom pipelines.
• Design, build, and maintain pipelines and dbt models across RAW, CURATED, CONSUMPTION layers with CI/CD.
• Support AWS S3 data-lake operations and downstream Snowflake workloads.
• Coordinate with Cloud/DevOps for Argo Workflows and Kubernetes workloads.
• Define and improve data quality and observability standards and checks.
• Lead or support major data incidents, post-incident reviews, preventive actions.
• Support Tableau Cloud operations for upstream data connectivity and refresh failures.
• Identify standardization, automation, reliability, and cost improvements across platform.
• Execute work through incident, request, access, change, and release processes.
• Create runbooks, operating procedures, and knowledge transfer materials.
• Mentor middle-level engineers and ensure effective handoffs across the team.
• Participate in the Data Platform on-call rotation.
