Job summary

Prometeo Talent is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join a fast-growing US-based cybersecurity startup. You will design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems using Java and Python, with a strong focus on AI-assisted development, distributed architectures, and ownership of features from design to deployment.

The role requires 8+ years in software engineering, 5+ years Python, solid Java expertise, and production experience with AI/LLM-based workflows.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering or backend development experience.
• 5+ years using Python to build production-grade backend systems.
• Strong experience with Java and backend architectures.
• Hands-on AI/LLM-based application development in production.
• Experience with distributed systems, scalable architectures, and asynchronous processing.
• Experience with databases, message queues, and data pipelines.
• Hands-on Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
• Strong ownership mindset and ability to thrive in startup or fast-paced environments; advanced English.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Python.
• Develop distributed systems involving databases, APIs, message queues, and data pipelines.
• Take full ownership of features through design, implementation, monitoring, and optimization.
• Build production-ready systems with reliability, performance, and maintainability.

• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while maintaining quality.
