Job summary

Prometeo Talent is partnering with a fast-growing US-based cybersecurity startup to hire a Senior Backend Engineer. The role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend services in Java and Python, with a strong emphasis on distributed systems and AI-assisted development.

You will own features end-to-end, work with a highly technical team, and contribute to architectural decisions as the platform scales.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering or backend development experience.
• 5+ years of professional Python experience with production-grade backends.
• Strong Java experience and distributed systems knowledge.
• Experience with AI/LLM-based development and AI agent workflows.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production.
• Excellent ownership, autonomy, and startup mindset.
• Advanced English language skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Python.
• Develop distributed systems involving databases, APIs, message queues, and data processing pipelines.
• Take full ownership of features and services throughout their lifecycle, from design and implementation to monitoring and optimization.
• Build production-ready systems with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability.
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Improve system performance, scalability, and operational efficiency across the platform.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while ensuring code quality and engineering best practices.
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to key technical decisions as the company scales.
• Continuously improve development processes, tooling, and engineering standards.
