Job summary

Prometeo Talent is assisting a fast-growing US-based cybersecurity startup in finding a Senior Backend Engineer. The role targets experts who thrive in startup environments and enjoy building scalable systems from the ground up.

You will own backend design, development, and maintenance of distributed systems using Java and Python, with AI-assisted workflows to boost productivity while maintaining quality.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering or backend development.
• 5+ years Python production backend experience.
• Strong experience with Java backend development.
• Hands-on experience with AI/LLM-based application development.
• Experience building AI-driven features, LLM integrations, or agentic workflows in production.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, scalable architectures, and asynchronous processing.
• Experience working with databases, message queues, and data processing pipelines.
• Advanced English level.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Python.
• Develop distributed systems involving databases, APIs, message queues, and data processing pipelines.
• Take full ownership of features and services throughout their lifecycle, from design and implementation to monitoring and optimization.
• Build production-ready systems with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability.
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Improve system performance, scalability, and operational efficiency across the platform.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while ensuring code quality and engineering best practices.
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to key technical decisions as the company scales.
• Continuously improve development processes, tooling, and engineering standards.
