Prometeo Talent is partnering with a US-based cybersecurity startup to hire a Senior Backend Engineer. You will design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Python, develop distributed systems, and own features from design to production.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering or backend development experience.
• 5+ years of professional Python experience building production-grade backends.
• Strong Java experience.
• Hands-on AI/LLM-based application development experience.
• Experience with AI-driven features, LLM integrations, or agentic workflows preferred.
• Understanding of distributed systems and scalable architectures.
• Experience with databases, messaging queues, and data pipelines.
• Docker and Kubernetes experience in production environments.
• Ownership mindset and ability to thrive in startup or fast-paced environments.
• Advanced English level.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Python.
• Develop distributed systems involving databases, APIs, message queues, and data processing pipelines.
• Take full ownership of features and services throughout their lifecycle, from design and implementation to monitoring and optimization.
• Build production-ready systems with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability.
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Improve system performance, scalability, and operational efficiency across the platform.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while ensuring code quality and engineering best practices.
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to key technical decisions as the company scales.
• Continuously improve development processes, tooling, and engineering standards.
